@Simbiso (2021)
This is a mobile application developed during a 1 month appathon organized by the Computer Society of Zimbabwe in collaboration with the privacy focused American organization, The @ Company.
This appathon comprised of individuals in
the US, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and we managed to emerge as one of the 9 winning teams out of the scores of international teams that participated.
- Bleeding Edge: This innovative mobile application was made using the
bleeding edge technologies, flutter, dart and the @protocol.
All these technologies are relatively new and therefore.
I had to get up-to speed with
the new programming language (dart), learn how the flutter SDK works and get acquainted with
the basics of the @protocol all in just a month!
- International: The hackathon participants comprised of individuals from
Zimbabwe, the United States of America and Bangladesh. The judging panel was comprised of
seasoned individuals from all over the world
- Collaboration: Remotely worked hand in hand with an intelligent team
member and together, we made a presentation that rocked the virtual stage.
SeedCo Harvest & Seed-Safe System (2020)
This is a desktop application that was designed and developed to help reduce the post-harvest
losses that small, medium and large scale farmers encounter due to poor seed storage. This
system would enable a smart-future as the farmer would be able to leverage the use of digital
technologies to minimize risks associated with seed storage and, thus, maximize revenue.
- C#: We made use of the powerful object oriented programming language, C# to
develop the application.
- SQL: We used an SQL database to act as a central repository of the data
stored.
- Embedded Systems: Using our knowledge obtained during our period at
university, we developed a robust embedded system which had temperature & humidity sensors.
- Collaboration: Worked hand in hand to bring this project to life with my
dear friend and classmate, Steve Tadzoka.
Kreighton School Access Control System (2019)
This is a desktop application that was designed and developed to reduce the inefficiencies
currently faced by schools when determining the staff and students present at school at any
given period of time
- C#: We made use of the powerful object oriented programming language, C# to
develop the application.
- SQL: We used an SQL database to act as a central repository of the data
stored.
- RFID: We used RFID cards to enable the student/teacher to get logged in the
system when they enter and/or :exit the premises.
- Made for Zimbabwe: Due to the high costs of mobile data, we designed a
solution that is optimized for the local environment. The system would use a LAN to enable
communication between the different components in the system without having to access the
internet.
- Collaboration: Worked hand in hand to bring this project to life with my
dear friend and classmate, Steve Tadzoka.
